Privacy Policy

Information we collect

We collect only what Tribu needs in order to work:

• Account information: your email address, your password (stored only in hashed form), your name and your profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
• Family content you add: the people in your tree (names, gender, dates and places of birth and death, occupation, biographies), the relationships between them, photos, videos, albums, stories, memories, comments, reactions and events.
• Messages: the chat messages, voice notes, photos and files you send to other members of your family.
• Invitations: the email addresses of the people you invite to a family.
• Device information: a push-notification identifier for each device where you turn notifications on, your notification choices, and your language and theme preferences.
• Usage and technical data: anonymous page-view statistics that use no cookies and do not identify you, and standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request.

A family tree includes information about your relatives, some of whom may not use Tribu. Please add information about living people only when you have the right to share it.

Device permissions

Tribu asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it:

• Photos, media and files: to upload the photos, videos and files you choose.
• Microphone: to record voice notes in chat.
• Notifications: to tell you about activity in your families.

Tribu does not collect your location, your contacts or an advertising identifier.

How we use your information

• To run Tribu: create and secure your account, store your family's content and show it to the members of that family.
• To send you notifications and emails about your account and your families, such as confirmation and password-reset links, invitations and new activity.
• To run the AI assistant when you ask it to, for example to turn a description of your family into tree entries or to draft a biography.
• To keep Tribu secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with advertisers.

Who can see your content

Everything in a family is private to the members of that family. People join only through an invitation from a member, and what each member may change depends on the role they were given. There are no public profiles or public family trees.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Tribu, and only as far as each one needs it:

• Supabase — database, authentication and file storage. Stores your account and all of your family's content.
• Vercel — hosting of the website and anonymous usage statistics. Processes requests and their technical logs.
• OneSignal — delivery of push notifications. Receives your device's notification identifier, your Tribu account ID and the text of each notification.
• Resend — delivery of email. Receives the recipient's email address and the content of the email.
• Anthropic — the AI assistant. When you use it, the text you write and the family details needed for the task (such as names, dates and memories) are sent to Anthropic to produce the answer.
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google, to verify who you are.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

How long we keep it, and how to delete it

• We keep your account and your family's content for as long as your account is active.
• A chat is permanently deleted, together with its attachments, once it expires or its creator deletes it.
• You can edit or delete content you have added from inside the app at any time.
• To delete your account and the personal information linked to it, write to support@alemdri.com from the email address of your account. We complete the deletion within 30 days, except for information we are legally required to keep.

Security

Information travels between your device and Tribu over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access rules enforced in the database limit each family's content to its members. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Tribu is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow them to create an account. A family tree may include information about children that was added by an adult relative. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these rights, write to support@alemdri.com.

International transfers

Our service providers may process your information in the United States and in other countries, which may have data-protection laws different from those where you live.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Tribu changes. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and we will tell you in the app or by email if the changes are significant.
